Wildlife hotline & admissions volunteer

About the Role:

​

The Wildlife Hotline and Admissions Volunteer is a very important and visible role, responsible for assisting rescuers with safely getting injured, orphaned, or sick wildlife into our care. This role also involves maintaining the triage and animal admissions spaces, basic triage, communicating with the public, administrative assistance, and some assistance with our animal emergency hotline.

Time Commitment:

​

One, four-hour shift per week for a minimum of 5-6 months,  with the opportunity to continue volunteering year-round or return the following season.

Skills:

​

  • Friendly and comfortable with people, in person and on the phone

  • Good communication skills

  • Knowledge of native species and natural history or the ability to learn

  • Commitment to the Center's mission and messaging

  • Ability to adhere to established protocols

  • Ability to enter data quickly and accurately via computer or iPad

  • Calm in hectic or busy environments

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
