Nature-Based Educator - Outreach Lead

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, along with a natural curiosity for learning and a growth mindset.  Candidates should display an ability to incorporate stories, statistics, current wildlife challenges, and opportunities for citizen stewardship in spoken and written word, along with knowledge of New England Wildlife- range, diets, habitats, current challenges, research, and management practices.   Ideal candidates will also have experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns, along with superior time management and organizational skills.  BA / MS from a four-year college or university in the fields of environmental education, environmental science, wildlife ecology, biology, or zoology preferred.  Interpreter or naturalist certification is a plus.  1-2 years of experience in nature-based education and outreach/communications required.  Due to the nature of programming, some nights and weekend work is a must.  

 

The position is hourly, and includes full-time benefits such as health insurance and paid time off.  Center for Wildlife also offers a positive work culture, and satisfaction at working at one of the only organizations of its kind performing critical work for wildlife and nature connection in our region.  Center for Wildlife was founded in 1986, has over 40,000 social media followers, an annual operating budget of $1.2 million, 6 board members, and 16 full-time and 6 seasonal staff.  Since inception CFW has treated over 85,000 injured and orphaned wild animals, and presented environmental education programming to over 100,000 community members.  Center for Wildlife has recently completed fundraising, construction, and transitioning to a brand new $6M facility and campus that includes a Nature Center, outdoor amphitheater, auditorium and indoor classroom, ambassador village and interpretive nature trails and outdoor play spaces.
